Why Is There No More Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell?

Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza has been undergoing quite the dramatic journey the last few years. After disappearing from menus two years ago, fans clamored for its return. There were social media pleas, petitions, and even a musical about the fervent response. And then, finally, Taco Bell (and Doja Cat) announced Mexican Pizza was returning.
Mexican Pizza is so beloved because it’s the best of both worlds – a tortilla filled with pizza sauce and then, depending on preference, either beans or ground beef. That crispy tortilla shell is then covered with another, which is layered with sauce, cheese and chopped tomatoes. It’s everything we love about tacos and pizza, in one dish.
It appears, though, Mexican Pizza was too popular for its own good, because just a few weeks after its grand return, stores are selling out.

“Our restaurant teams trained weeks for what we knew would be a big return. We just didn't realize how big. One fan’s order included 180 Mexican Pizzas. A Roseville, CA restaurant sold over 1,000 in one day. Demand was more than seven times than it was the last time it was on our menu,” said a representative for Taco Bell in an email.
While Mexican Pizza may right now be hard to come by at some locations, Taco Bell is trying to get more available everywhere very soon. Meanwhile, hungry fans of this menu item can follow along on this page for details about when it’s back for good.
“To our fans whose efforts to bring back the Mexican Pizza inspired everyone everywhere to eat more Mexican Pizzas faster than we could have ever expected…Thank you for your continued passion,” said the representative in the email.
Speaking for the fans, we’d like our passion rewarded with more Mexican Pizza!
