Four champions return to the Cake Wars kitchen to build the most amazing cakes of all time, in honor of some of the most iconic toys of all time, LEGO! Only one champion will reign supreme, have their cake as the centerpiece of the party, and take home $10,000. Amanda Santoro from LEGO serves as guest judge.
Police officers and paramedics with culinary chops are in the Chopped Kitchen. In the first round, the contestants respond to a basket with hummus chips and ground bison. In the second round, they must jump into action and figure out how to make fiery jawbreakers work with rotisserie chicken. And angel food cake in the final basket is apropos.
On this leg of their epic journey, Guy Fieri and his family are eating crab and cod right out of the water, greens straight from the farm and chicken fresh out of the fryer. Plus, they enjoy a ceviche celebration, a Chinese feast and a rainy-day chili that gets all the cooks into the kitchen.
These basket ingredients through the competitors for a loop, but the Chopped judges are ready for anything. Marc Murphy's "chef cam" shows a new angle on the kitchen -- and his fellow chefs, breakfast brings the boys together until Ted Allen starts throwing ingredients at Scott Conant, and Maneet Chauhan's title of Maestro of Spice is put on the line.
The chefs arrive in Las Vegas for the challenge of fusion. As in many a past classic NIC challenges, the chefs are asked to bring together and fuse unusual ingredients into something new and Iron Chef worthy. In this challenge, odd ingredients are randomly paired and the chefs must prove that opposites do attract ... even in the kitchen.
In season 1, the remaining two chefs walk into the hallowed halls of Kitchen Stadium to complete their final test: Attain Greatness. With the Chairman looking on and host Alton Brown commentating from the side, the two finalists compete in a head-to-head final showdown by commencing in an official Iron Chef America battle.
The celebrity recruits put their palates to the test in a blindfolded taste and identify game. After seeing what they're working with, Chef Anne Burrell and Rachael Ray focus on getting the celebs to lose their biggest kitchen crutch -- takeout. The two recruits with the worst takeout dishes go head-to-head in an elimination challenge.
Gobble, gobble, it's Turkey Day in the Chopped Kitchen! When the chefs are given gizzards in the first basket, will they feel thankful? The competitors step up their games when everyone's favorite — pumpkin pie — shows up in the entree basket. In the end the challenge is to compose some chocolatey desserts as part of the final Thanksgiving offering.
