After 6 Long Years, McDonald’s Is Bringing Back One of Its Best Deals
Here are the items that will be included in the chain’s Extra Value Meals menu.

Fast food is known for being quick, convenient and, above all, inexpensive. But in recent years, as inflation has impacted just about everything, value menu items have started to become a little less sweet of a deal (or at least seem that way).
McDonald’s introduced its Extra Value Meals back in the early ’90s, and they remained a staple for frugal French fry fans and cash-strapped college students until they were removed from the menu in 2019. Since then, the brand has added other ways to save a buck or two, but this month the beloved Extra Value Meal is making a comeback.
When Are Extra Value Meals Returning to McDonald’s?
After six years off the menu, Extra Value Meals will make their return on September 8. McDonald’s says the Extra Value Meals — which include an entree, side and drink — will save customers about 15 percent compared to purchasing individual items. The meals will be available nationwide at participating locations, and some months will feature a promotionally priced Extra Value Meal at an even lower cost than usual.

What Are McDonald’s New Extra Value Meals?
The new Extra Value Meals will include the following items, served with a side and beverage:
- Sausage McMuffin with Egg
- Sausage Egg & Cheese McGriddles
- Egg McMuffin
- Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit
- Big Mac
- 10-piece Chicken McNuggets
- Any variety Quarter Pounder burger (Original, Bacon or Deluxe)
- Any variety McCrispy Sandwich (Original, Deluxe or Spicy Deluxe)
At launch, McDonald’s will offer an even better deal on two Extra Value Meals. For breakfast, the $5 Sausage McMuffin meal will include hash browns and a small coffee, and later in the day, you can score a Big Mac, medium fries and medium drink for $8. In November, those options will switch to a $5 Sausage, Egg and Cheese McGriddle meal and an $8 10-piece McNuggets meal.
When Did McDonald’s Discontinue Extra Value Meals?
McDonald’s discontinued the Extra Value Meal in 2019. At the time, there had been a class-action lawsuit that alleged the meals were not as much of a bargain as consumers were led to assume, though that case was dismissed. Across the fast-food industry, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 also contributed both to rising costs and menu streamlining.
Since then, McDonald’s has offered its fair share of daily deals including McValue menu, meal combos for as little as $5 and add-on items for just $1. Additionally, promotions like free French fries and discount coupons are available on the McDonald’s app. McDonald’s also previously ditched its Dollar Menu for the McPick 2 (two bundled items at a lower price) and, eventually, the $1-$2-$3 Menu, which still offers items priced in that range.
