Everyone knows Sundays are bagel days. And now … there’s proof.

In celebration of National Bagel Day, on January 15 (a Saturday, ironically), Google Maps has parsed the data and found that Sundays are the most popular day for people to order bagels. How popular? On Sundays, people order twice as many bagels as they do on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, according to Google Maps. That makes sense because … brunch.

Google Maps data analysts have also revealed the least popular day for bagels – Tuesday. It’s anyone’s guess why.

As for who loves bagels most, New York reigns supreme. (Sorry, New Jersey.) People in New York search for bagels 20 percent more than those in New Jersey, according to Google Maps search data — and 300 percent more than people in California.

And if you need further evidence that bagels are more beloved (or at least more broadly searched for) on the East Coast than elsewhere in the U.S., Google Maps’ search data analysis has revealed the top 20 bagel-loving states, and only one western state — Colorado — made the top 5.

Here’s the complete list of the top 20 bagel-loving states, according to Google Maps searches:

  1. New York
  2. New Jersey
  3. Colorado
  4. Vermont
  5. Massachusetts
  6. Nevada
  7. Minnesota
  8. Arizona
  9. Connecticut
  10. California
  11. Oregon
  12. Florida
  13. Pennsylvania
  14. Delaware
  15. Maine
  16. New Hampshire
  17. Rhode Island
  18. Illinois
  19. Utah
  20. Washington

There’s a hole lot to mull over on that list …
