Popeyes tends to be at the front lines of all things fast food fried chicken, so when the chain announces a new launch, it’s usually big news. One such piece of big news? On July 14, Popeyes announced that it’s launching two new items – a Signature Sauce and Chicken Dippers. So of course, I had to try them.

The dippers are more fry-like, as opposed to a traditional chunkier tender – tall and skinny, with all-white breast meat and crispy exterior, hand-battered in Popeyes’ signature Louisiana garlic and spice blend. As one may expect, they’re juicy and packed with peppery garlicky flavor. They’re really quite addictive.

The dippers are meant to pair with Popeyes new Signature Sauce, which reflects the brand’s New Orleans roots. The creamy dipping sauce is seasoned with classic Cajun flavors and a touch of heat.

But really, why stop there? I received both the new dippers and the signature sauce to try, and while that pairing worked just great, so did dipping Popeyes’ popular Cajun Fries and new Chicken Wraps. In fact, it seemed to work well with everything dipped in it, making its title of Signature Sauce feel well earned. (As a side note, the Chicken Dippers themselves tasted delicious when dipped in the mashed potatoes and gravy, so there’s a whole lot of mixing and matching that can happen here if you believe in yourself!)

“Popeyes Signature Sauce is one of a kind with its creamy, irresistible flavor designed to be the perfect companion to every Popeyes menu item. We took our time developing it over the last five years, ensuring we landed on something undeniably Popeyes,” said Chef Amy Alarcon, VP of Culinary Innovation at Popeyes. “Creating a signature sauce is a monumental moment for our brand, and one we approached with care, knowing it had the potential to become an iconic part of our menu. It’s incredibly unique and ownable to our Cajun roots, which is a true testament to our Louisiana heritage.”

The new Chicken Dippers sell for $4.99 and are available for a limited time, but the Signature Sauce is here to stay. Will you be giving them a try?
