A BBQ Sauce Brand We Tested (and Loved!) Is Getting Into Ranch Dressing
Can lightning strike twice?

It’s not uncommon for celebrities to dabble with food and beverage brands. What is less common is when those brands end up being some of the best on the market. That’s the case with Smash Kitchen, the condiment company co-founded by actor Glen Powell. While some of Powell’s recent roles in films like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Twisters" have put him at the top of the box office, his Organic American Style BBQ Sauce put him at the top of our ranking of the best store-bought BBQ sauces.
What is Smash Kitchen?
Launched in 2025, Powell’s brand Smash Kitchen focuses on “better-for-you” grocery staples. Many of its products feature organic labeling and none contain any artificial flavors, dyes or preservatives. Smash Kitchen sells a whole line of condiments including mustards, mayos and ketchups, as well as cooking oils and snacks like popcorn and chips. Aside from the oils, most of the snacks and condiments sell for under $5, with an eye toward affordability.
What are Smash Kitchen's salad dressings?
With its latest foray into the supermarket, the brand is coming for the salad dressing section. And to do so, it’s starting with the most logical choice: Ranch.
Creamy and zesty, ranch is one of those do-it-all dressings that easily crosses over as a dip or a spread, well surpassing any previous associations with salad. So, considering that Smash Kitchen already wowed us with one of ranch’s best companions, BBQ sauce, we were more than curious to try its new Organic Ranch.
However, Organic Ranch is just the first of a handful of upcoming dressings on the way from Smash Kitchen. The announcement from the brand says future releases will include Organic Italian dressing, Organic Caesar dressing and Organic Balsamic Vinaigrette.
My honest review of Smash Kitchen's new ranch:
While our team hasn't pitted Smash Kitchen’s ranch head-to-head with other bottles just yet, I tried it on its own and, to me, it hit all the marks of a better-than-average ranch.
First off, there’s no mistaking this is a classic ranch dressing, with its buttermilk tang and other familiar flavors. But Smash Kitchen’s take on ranch goes deeper into those herbaceous notes, with strong hints of dill coming through (a plus for any pickle and ranch fans out there). And yet, despite its brighter profile, it’s still super creamy without being too rich or gelatinous. It holds up to dipping extremely well, even clinging to slippery veggie sticks without much, if any, dripping. For folks buying ranch dressing to use as anything but dressing, it’s a welcome feature. After a few thoughtful tastes, I ended up finishing off the dish I poured with a couple of whole carrots.
