Liquid I.V. Just Launched a Pickle Flavor (For Real This Time)

Do you secretly drink pickle juice straight from the jar? Now you can do so shamelessly, thanks to Liquid I.V., which is launching Hydration Multiplier Grillo’s Pickles — pickle-flavored electrolyte packets. The collaboration between Liquid I.V. and Grillo’s stemmed from an April Fool's joke last year, but it has now come to life as the real “dill.”
Where Did the Liquid I.V. x Grillo’s Pickle Collab Come From?
Last year, Liquid I.V. posted that it was coming out with a pickle flavor of its popular electrolyte drink packets. The problem was that the announcement was an April Fool’s prank.
“The joke took on a life of its own, becoming one of our most engaging posts ever and sparking a cultural obsession. Fans flooded our DMs, comments, and inboxes with one request: bring a pickle flavor to life,” the brand shared in a press release.
So, this year, Liquid I.V. teamed up with the trendy pickle brand Grillo’s Pickles to turn the flavor into a reality.
What Does Grillo’s Pickles Liquid I.V. Taste Like?
I tried the new Liquid I.V. flavor at a media preview earlier this year, where I found it practically indistinguishable from drinking real pickle juice. The brininess is there, the saltiness is there, but most impressively, the drink has a fresh dill undertone. The only thing missing was that distinct neon green color. Once the packet is dissolved in water, the liquid looks slightly hazy. Then again, that’s pretty similar to what the juice in the tubs of Grillo’s actually looks like, since the pickles are made without artificial ingredients. Your ability to drink a full glass of this flavor depends on how pickle-trained your taste buds are. Like the idea of drinking straight pickle juice? You’ll like this.
What’s in the Grillo’s Pickles Hydration Multiplier Packs?
The drink mixes don’t appear to be made with real pickles — the top ingredients are cane sugar, dextrose, citric acid, salt and potassium citrate, per the brand's website. However, they also have the all-enticing promise of “natural flavors.”
You can expect all the typical benefits of Liquid I.V. from the pickle-flavored hydration packets, namely electrolytes and vitamin B. Of course, pickle juice already contains electrolytes. But perhaps you’d like to skip out on all the vinegar.
