As any budget-minded fast-food fan can probably tell you, we are living in an era of value menus. Chains including McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Taco Bell have all introduced affordable options for those looking to satisfy and save at the same time.
Now, Subway is getting in on the reasonably priced meal trend. The 60-year-old sandwich chain is launching its first ever value menu. Subway’s new “Fresh Value Menu” includes 15 entrees — some new, some existing and each priced at less than $5.
What’s on Subway’s Fresh Value Menu?
The new menu features 15 “freshly made to order” entrees — 11 sandwiches and four protein wraps — priced under $5 each. The chain says each entree offers “quality, variety, convenience and satisfying portions at an unmatched price,” with most items providing 20 grams of protein while clocking in below 500 calories.
“Subway’s Fresh Value Menu proves you don’t have to choose between eating well and saving money,” Dave Skena, Subway’s chief marketing officer, North America, says in a news release. “Your wallet and stomach deserve freshly-baked bread, real protein and the perfect combination of sauces and hand-chopped veggies — all for under $5.”
The menu will feature a new lineup of four customizable six-inch Deli Fave sandwiches, priced at $3.99 each; four grab-and-go Protein Pockets for $3.99; and one of seven different six-inch Subway Subs of the Day, rotating through each day of the week, for $4.99.
What are the Deli Fave selections on Subway’s Fresh Value Menu?
The collection of customizable six-inch “deli-inspired” subs on Subway’s Fresh Value Menu includes two new sandwiches:
- Spicy Pepperoni: Aged pepperoni, Pepper Jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, jalapeños and creamy Sriracha
- Ham & Salami: Black Forest ham, Genoa salami, Provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and honey mustard
It also includes two existing Subway sandwich options:
- B.L.T.: Bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo
- Cold Cut Combo: Black Forest ham, Genoa salami, turkey-based Bologna, Provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and mayo
What Protein Pockets are on Subway’s Fresh Value Menu?
The Fresh Value Menu will also feature Protein Pockets, the line of four “grab-and-go” high-protein wraps launched earlier this year. Each Protein Pocket is made with veggies, sauce and a protein on a soft wheat tortilla and was already priced at $3.99 apiece. The Protein Pocket options are:
- Baja Chicken: Grilled chicken, Monterey cheddar cheese, “smoky" Baja Chipotle, lettuce, tomatoes and jalapeño peppers
- Peppercorn Ranch Chicken: Grilled chicken, Monterey cheddar cheese, “zesty” Peppercorn Ranch dressing, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles
- Italian Trio: Black Forest ham, aged pepperoni, Genoa salami, Monterey cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and garlic aioli
- Turkey Ham: Oven-roasted turkey, Black Forest ham, Monterey cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and honey mustard
What are the Subs of the Day on Subway’s Fresh Value Menu?
Subway is also offering its existing rotating sub lineup on the new Fresh Value Menu. Each sub is priced at $4.99, and you can add chips and a drink for an additional $2. Here’s the roster:
- Meatball Monday: Meatball Marinara
- Tuna Tuesday: Classic Tuna
- Sweet Onion Teriyaki Wednesday: Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
- Turkey Thursday: Oven-Roasted Turkey
- Forest Ham Friday: Black Forest Ham
