The protein craze of 2025 doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere in 2026. One early indicator: Subway is starting the new year by launching new Protein Pockets, along with a new six-inch Sub of the Day lineup.

Both the new Protein Pockets, which debut on Thursday, January 8, and the Sub of the Day lineup can help customers affordably “hit their protein goals” in the new year, the chain says. All items are priced under $5, too.

What are Subway’s new Protein Pockets?

Billed as a “grab-and-go” item and priced at $3.99 apiece, each Protein Pocket features a “toasty wheat” soft tortilla stuffed with one of four protein options, plus “hand-chopped vegetables” and a “fan-favorite” sauce.

“Each Protein Pocket piles on more than 20 grams of protein, making it a smart choice for protein-conscious guests and flavor seekers alike,” the brand says.

What are the Protein Pocket options?

Subway is launching four combinations:

  • Baja Chicken, featuring grilled chicken, Monterey cheddar cheese, “smoky” Baja Chipotle sauce, lettuce, Roma tomatoes and jalapeño peppers.
  • Peppercorn Ranch Chicken, with grilled chicken, Monterey cheddar cheese, “zesty” Peppercorn Ranch dressing, lettuce, Roma tomatoes and pickles.
  • Italian Trio, including Black Forest ham, aged pepperoni, Genoa salami, Monterey cheddar cheese, lettuce, Roma tomatoes and mayonnaise.
  • Turkey & Ham, with oven-roasted turkey, Black Forest ham, Monterey cheddar cheese, lettuce, Roma tomatoes and mayonnaise.

What is Subway’s new Sub of the Day deal?

Subway is rolling out a daily value menu deal featuring a different classic six-inch sub every day of the week for $4.99. For an additional $2, you can get a drink, chips or cookies along with it.

What’s on the rotating Sub of the Day lineup?

The daily menu features the following subs:

  • Meatball Monday: Meatball Marinara
  • Tuna Tuesday: Classic Tuna
  • Sweet Onion Wednesday: Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
  • Turkey Thursday: Oven-Roasted Turkey
  • Forest Ham Friday: Black Forest Ham
  • BMT Saturday: Italian B.M.T.
  • Spicy Italian Sunday: Spicy Italian

All of the featured subs and Protein Pockets are meant to offer nutrition at an affordable price.

“Getting more protein in their diet is important to so many people. But all too often that protein is expensive or fried,” Dave Skena, Subway’s chief marketing officer, North America, says in a press release. “In 2026, folks can eat freshly made, delicious food at a great value every time they come to Subway.”
