Sonic Is Dropping a Bunch of Banana Drinks and Treats
The drive-in chain is officially going bananas.
Sonic is going all in on bananas.
The drive-in fast-food chain is introducing a bunch of banana-flavored drinks and frozen treats to its menu. Led by Sonic’s returning fan-favorite Banana Pudding Shake, the new lineup is inspired by what the brand says is a current “banana craze” and “one of the biggest flavor trends of the year.”
“Banana has quickly become one of the most talked-about flavors, and Sonic is putting its own spin on the trend in a way only we can, with a new collection of both sips and sweets to indulge in,” Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief marketing officer, says in a news release. “This lineup brings together nostalgic favorites and new innovation that tap into guests’ growing appetite for fruit-forward flavors.”
What's in Sonic’s new banana collection?
The lineup includes new and returning drinks and frozen treats:
- Banana Pudding Shake: A returning fan-favorite, this shake features “creamy banana pudding-flavored soft serve blended with vanilla wafer cookie crumbles and topped with even more vanilla wafer cookie crumbles, whipped topping and a cherry.”
- Banana Pudding Blast: A new frozen dessert offering “creamy banana pudding-flavored soft serve blended with vanilla wafer cookie crumbles and topped with even more vanilla wafer cookie crumbles.”
- Banana Dirty Dr Pepper: Inspired by the dirty soda trend, this drink starts with a Dr Pepper base and adds “the sweet flavor of real banana and cream.”
- Banana Pudding Cream Slush: This frozen treat is made from a blend of “creamy vanilla soft serve” and “an icy banana pudding slush.”

The banana collection is available — for a limited time — at participating locations nationwide starting today, August 24, as well as in the Sonic App.
