Is Heinz’s Holiday Dinner in A Can the Answer to Our Problems?
Between supermarket inflation and hours of prep work, people are looking to a curious canned soup to get their Christmas dinner fill.

This year, it’s all about making the most out of what we have. Shipping delays have led to all sorts of shortages on holiday essentials, and we’re attempting to plan holiday dinners when the world around us still feels pretty uncertain.
Perhaps the answer to all our problems is keeping things simple? Heinz has something that just may deliver on that desire. It’s an entire Christmas dinner in canned soup form. In that can, you’ll find “big chunks” of turkey, pigs in blankets, brussels sprouts, stuffing balls and potatoes, with a gravy and cranberry sauce. Yes, all mixed together. In one canned pre-prepped soup.
This soup, which might be equal parts frightening and fascinating to many, is also hard to come by as well. First of all, there’s only 500 cans of the Christmas Dinner Big Soup available this year. And, you’ll have to order it from the other side of the pond, too. It’s to be found at £1.50 plus post and packaging, at Heinztohome.uk, but – as of last check, it’s out of stock. However, you can register to be notified as soon as there’s more supply. (Should that be something that even interests you.)
Apparently, it did interest some people. The initial supply sold out almost instantly. We get it, too. Isn’t the most difficult part of planning a holiday dinner how long it takes to cook? This does remove that element. It’s just hard to imagine how a canned soup can contain all those different things, and also be, well, edible.
Perhaps it’s too soon to judge. We’ve already been offered Thanksgiving dinner in ice cream form ... who’s to say we can’t have Christmas as a canned soup?
