For those who drink a cup (or two) of coffee daily, chances are you’ve gotten bored with your usual roast once or twice and sought to change things up. While opting for handcrafted caramel-drizzled macchiatos or frothy on-tap cold brews from your local cafe is definitely a good solution, sometimes playing barista at home is the only option for saving time and money. And sure, outfitting an at-home coffee bar and going full coffeemaker mode with cold foam, drizzles and syrups can make you feel like a true professional. But the easiest (and most tastiest) route to adding a little something extra to your cup of joe is using coffee creamer. Between plant-based and dairy-free options to sweetened varieties and over-the-top flavors, there's bound to be a creamer you'll find and love a latte and never go back from. Trust us, we've tried.

Over 50 cups of coffee and caffeine jitters later, we ranked our top-tested and loved creamers to add to your grocery list the next time you're looking for a flavor boost. But remember, taste is totally subjective, so absolutely no judgment if your favorite one didn’t make the list. Any coffee creamer will have you questioning why you went so long without it.

How We Tested

A tablespoon of 24 coffee creamers were added to a medium-sized coffee cup with freshly brewed Folgers Classic Roast. We broke them into five flavor categories (Vanilla, Sweet Cream, Hazelnut, Caramel and Limited Edition) and compared them to those in the same category, including non-dairy options, too.

Beyond our formal taste test, we’ve updated this list with newer picks from staffers’ first-hand experience making coffee at home to reflect the creamers tried in our daily lives. And considering our fair share of coffee machine testing, we at Food Network have a pretty substantial idea of what good coffee tastes like and what you need to make it even more delightful. We highlighted the creamers that elevated our black coffee to create a rich, smooth sip and heightened flavor we kept coming back to.

This article has been reviewed since its original publish date for accuracy, pricing and availability. We stand by our list of top coffee creamer picks.

After getting a Breville Barista Express Impress Espresso Machine last year and constantly experimenting with the steam wand to create barista-quality microform, our Commerce Editor Laura James claims Minor Figures Oat Milk is the best dairy alternative she's tried. "It has a great oat taste and a silky, smooth consistency that froths up nicely with the steam wand and makes a great addition to lattes and cappuccinos," she said. Minor Figures is crafted with just five simple ingredients — water, organic oats, organic sunflower oil, salt and potassium carbonate — meaning that perfect velvety base for coffee comes without any additives, preservatives or fillers. "Plus, it’s nice that it’s shelf-stable until opened, so I can stock up without taking up space in my fridge," Laura added. Knowing it's so easy to stock your coffee bar with these, it's only right to buy this pack of six and have them handy the next time you want to swap in a non-dairy creamer that's just as light and creamy.

Another short ingredient list with a large flavor profile, Elmhurst 1925 Barista Almond Milk is deliciously balanced with sweet and nutty notes. Though the most expensive option on our list, it reigns as the best almond milk pick due to its functionality as a high-quality creamer for frothing, steaming or just mixing in. "This almond milk is my go-to when I'm looking to swap in a non-dairy option for my half & half. It consistently delivers the smooth mouthfeel I crave in my coffee, and I appreciate the peace of mind knowing it doesn't contain any artificial flavors," Commerce Associate Editor Julia Morlino said. And if you want to get technical, all Elmhurst products are created by a HydroRelease method, which uses water to separate and recombine the nutritional components to form a smooth, creamy consistency, which was definitely apparent in tasting.

"It’s creamy, dreamy and a total treat," said Senior Editor Alessandra Bulow, who confessed she cannot keep this French vanilla creamer in her home or else one cup of coffee will turn into four. And how could we blame her? This creamer delivers the quintessential, dessert-like flavor you'd expect from a vanilla-forward option, offering a creamy, smooth and warm essence that blends seamlessly with hot or iced coffee. The narrow pour spout also makes for easy use (because International Delight knows we'll be tempted to use more than we should).

This plant-based vanilla creamer from Califia Farms was by far the tastiest oat milk vanilla variety we tried. Free from hydrogenated oils and other artificial ingredients, this 25-calorie creamer is an excellent option for people who love the frothiness regular oat milk brings to coffee, minus its higher calorie count. Pro tip: our testers recommend frothing the creamer before adding it to your coffee, as the overall vanilla flavor becomes even more apparent and delightful as a velvety topping.

Chobani creamer is TikTok viral for a reason. It has an aroma that's very similar to freshly churned vanilla ice cream when you smell it straight from the bottle. And if that alone hasn't convinced you, Chobani uses fresh, natural cream from their yogurt-making process with the addition of milk, cane sugar and natural flavoring to create a simple yet tasty coffee add-on. Commerce Editor Laura James specifically loves the Sweet Cream flavor. "Typically, I skip adding sweeteners to my daily at-home coffees, but every once in a while, I do crave something a little sweeter. To satisfy that craving at home (and for a lot less money), I’ve been loving this creamer in the Sweet Cream flavor," she said. One thing to note — a little goes a long way, so try to be diligent when going in to pour this into your glass or mug. But there are worse things in life than an incredibly sweet beverage to kick-start your day.

Silk Sweet and Creamy is exactly what you need if you're looking to add a touch of sweetness to your morning cup without it completely overpowering your brew. It's oh-so slick and creamy, just like dairy creamers, despite being dairy-, lactose- and gluten-free. Silk even tastes great in smoothies and shakes thanks to its subtly sweet undertones that elevate any beverage to that just-right level. "While a lot of people prefer fun-flavored creamers with a basic coffee, I’m the opposite. I love fun-flavored coffees with a basic creamer," said Commerce Editor Morgan Faulkner. "Enter: Silk Sweet & Creamy Almond Creamer. It adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the Bones Coffee Company Blueberry Blast Cake I’m currently drinking, without being overly sweet. It’s a 10 out of 10 in my book."

International Delight Hazelnut Creamer screams cozy in a cup. Our testers got exactly what they expected from this fan-favorite: a bold, toasty and nutty hazelnut flavor. If you're a lover of hazelnut anything, you'll love it too. If you're not, you might want to use less than the recommended tablespoon for a fainter flavor. But we honestly love its versatility and how you can enhance the depth of your roast however you like. Senior Editor Alessandra Bulow recommends combining this creamer with International Delight Vanilla for the ultimate treat yourself bev.

This almond and coconut-based hazelnut creamer from Nutpods is unsweetened, dairy-free and has 0 grams of sugar per serving, making it a great way for people following Keto, Paleo or Whole30 diets to enjoy a creamy and rich dairy-free sip without all the sugar. Even if you think you'll miss the sweetness, we can guarantee you'll love the tropical coconut and earthy hazelnut flavor in your coffee. We tested both the shelf-stable and refrigerated versions of this creamer and found the hazelnut flavor of the refrigerated one to shine through a bit more, probably because it was chilled before use. It's also froth-friendly, so feel free to go barista-crazy and create a foamy hazelnut topping with this.

When we realized this coffee creamer was modeled after Starbucks' cult favorite caramel macchiato, we couldn't help but be a little skeptical — could a store-bought creamer really replicate the sinfully good combo of sticky caramel drizzle and robust espresso? The answer is a resounding yes! Though the overall flavoring reminded our testers of a buttery caramel candy, there were pleasant undertones of vanilla, too. Most surprisingly, it wasn't too sweet either! The only downside was that we had to go to a few different grocery stores to find it, so purchasing it online is definitely the way to go.

Smooth, smooth, smooth, smooth — the word all our testers used to describe this almond milk-based caramel coffee creamer from Silk. Though the overall flavor was lighter in sweetness than initially expected, this blend actually added a lovely creaminess that was almost identical to a splash of heavy cream or whole milk. It also added a pleasant color to the hot coffee, something that was lacking from all the other almond milks we tried. And if you're a daily coffee drinker like us, you know the color of your coffee is a dealbreaker.

"I honestly tried Planet Oat Coffee Cake Creamer on a whim in place of the brand's limited edition pumpkin spice (my personal favorite for fall), but I have to say this flavor gave pumpkin spice a run for its money," said Commerce Associate Editor Julia Morlino. "The cinnamon flavor comes through in every sip, even with the smallest drop. It truly feels like I'm drinking dessert." Unlike the other oat milk blends tested, we didn't need to froth or foam this one to get a bold taste. One tablespoon was enough to give our coffee ample creaminess, flavoring and all the cozy coffee cake vibes. Got a sweet tooth? This one is for you.

Yogurt brand Too Good & Co. has a variety of flavors for their coffee creamers, but resident nutrition expert at Food Network Dana Angelo White loves this lavendar-flavored one. "This lower-sugar creamer from yogurt brand Too Good & Co. is made with nothing but milk, cream, cane sugar and natural flavors," she said. "The lavender notes are delicately floral and won’t overpower your cup. Try it in frosty glasses of iced coffee!"
