Sean Brock

Chef Sean Brock attended Johnson & Wales University and worked in acclaimed restaurants throughout the South before accepting a position with the Neighborhood Dining Group (NDG) as executive chef at McCrady's in Charleston in 2006. In 2010 Brock opened Husk, also in Charleston and named "Best New Restaurant in America" by Bon Appetit in 2011, followed by Husk Nashville in 2013. Husk is a celebration of Southern ingredients, only serving food that is indigenous to the South, with an emphasis on the ingredients and the people who grow them. Brock has been nominated for several James Beard Awards, winning "Best Chef Southeast" in 2010, and was nominated for the "Outstanding Chef" award in 2013. Brock is featured in season two of "The Mind of a Chef" on PBS. Duff and the staff at Charm City Cakes have a big monkey to get off their backs — King Kong! Drew Kramer’s bar mitzvah is Saturday and his parents have ordered a $2000 King Kong cake. The "Overseas Houston," a giant tanker, is being christened in Chesterfield, Pa., on Saturday. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the shipping company has ordered a giant replica of the tanker made of cake. They also want a champagne bottle made out of a cookie to christen the cake ship. Once the cake is built, Geof must transport it two hours to Chesterfield. Will the "Overseas Houston" survive the potholes between Baltimore and Chesterfield? A couple is getting married and the groom-to-be is a DJ. His fiancé is surprising him with a cake that looks like his beloved Technics turntable.

Two women are getting hitched and when it comes to their wedding cake, they’ve decided to mix traditional and non-traditional. One cake is a flowery, four-tier affair. The other is a Baltimore icon — a large rat perched upon a city manhole cover! Erica, one of Duff’s part-time decorators is getting hitched and she’s ordered an unusual wedding cake — a male and female owl perched on a branch. When one of the owls is in danger of collapsing, Richard performs emergency surgery with a wooden dowel and hammer. This bride and groom are from different cultures, and they want to celebrate that in their cakes — a giant Thai pagoda wedding cake for her and a cake replica of the Brooklyn Bridge for him. Geof must build another jeep for a groom’s cake.

Tony Mantuano

James Beard Award winner Tony Mantuano is an influential culinary force, a chef who has been on the ground floor of defining true Italian cuisine in the United States. In addition to his role as chef-partner at Spiaggia, Mantuano is the chef-partner at River Roast, situated on the Chicago River; Bar Toma, an Italian neighborhood pizzeria and bar; Terzo Piano, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant at The Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago; and he is the owner of Mangia Trattoria, a classic Italian restaurant in his hometown of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mantuano is a recipient of the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Midwest and the Chicago Tribune’s Good Eating Award, which honors achievement in the food and restaurant industry.Outside of the kitchen, Mantuano is often recognized for his participation on Season Two of Bravo’s Top Chef Masters. Hugh Acheson

Hugh Acheson is the chef/owner of 5&10 and The National located in Athens, GA, Empire State South and Spiller Park Coffee in Atlanta, GA, and The Florence in Savannah, GA. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada he started cooking at a young age and decided to make it his career after taking a very long time to realize that academics weren’t his thing. At age 15, he began working in restaurants after school and learning as much as possible. Today, Acheson's experience includes working under Chef Rob MacDonald where he learned stylized French cuisine, wine and etiquette at the renowned Henri Burger restaurant in Ottawa, and in San Francisco as the chef de cuisine with Chef Mike Fennelly at Mecca, and later as opening sous chef with famed Chef Gary Danko at his namesake restaurant, where he found a love of the simple, pure, and disciplined.Taking these experiences, Hugh developed a style of his own forging together the beauty of the South with the flavors of Europe and opening the critically acclaimed Athens, GA restaurant 5&10 in March of 2000. In 2007, Acheson opened The National with fellow chef Peter Dale. Adding to his list of dining establishments, Hugh opened Atlanta based restaurant, Empire State South in the summer of 2010. Hugh’s most recent endeavor is The Florence, which opened in June of 2014.Hugh's cookbook titled A New Turn in the South: Southern Flavors Reinvented for Your Kitchen, published by Clarkson Potter, hit the bookshelves in October 2011 and won the award for Best Cookbook in the field of “American Cooking” by the James Beard Foundation in 2012. In A New Turn in the South, you’ll find libations, seasonal vegetables that take a prominent role, salads and soups, Hugh's prized sides, and fish and meats, turning Southern food on its head every step of the way. Hugh’s pickling swatch book, Pick a Pickle, also by Clarkson Potter, was published in the spring of 2014 and is a handy kitchen go-to for canning and preserving. In May of 2015, Hugh’s newest cookbook, The Broad Fork: Recipes for the Wide World of Vegetables and Fruit, was released. The book brings fresh produce to the center of the plate and offers knowledge and the inspiration to consider new directions for how we eat and support our communities through the wonderful world of agriculture.This fresh approach to Southern food has earned Hugh a great deal of recognition, including Food & Wine’s Best New Chef (2002), the Atlanta Journal Constitution Restaurant of the Year (2007), five James Beard nominations, and 2012 Best Chef Southeast.In 2010 Hugh competed on Bravo’s Top Chef Masters: Season 3. He returned to the hit show as a judge on Top Chef: Seasons 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 as well as Top Chef: Duels.
