Applause is great. Cheering is lovely. Flyovers are fun. Free doughnuts and coffee? Yeah, that’s a pretty sweet way to show your appreciation.

Krispy Kreme has announced plans to honor and celebrate first responders across the U.S. on National First Responders Day — Thursday, October 28 — by giving them a free Original Glazed Doughnut (a classic!) and small cup of brewed coffee (hot or iced).

The offer extends to police and other law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs, emergency operators and dispatchers, and search and rescue workers. All they have to do to claim their free doughnut and coffee on October 28 is show a valid ID or badge at a participating Krispy Kreme store or drive-thru.

“The commitment of our country’s first responders to protecting and saving lives as a profession and a vocation is a blessing for which we’re all indebted, especially in recent times,” Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “We’re thankful for them every day and it’s our honor to celebrate them with this gesture.”

In other words, first responders, doughnut think we’re not grateful for all you do.
