Virtual graduation ceremonies with mega star wattage are cool and all, but they’re just not as sweet as the real thing.
To help sweeten up the end of a chapter, even just a little bit, Krispy Kreme is giving the class of 2020 free doughnuts known as the “Graduate Dozen.”
The doughnut chain has announced that on Tuesday, May 19, it will give away an assortment of a dozen graduate-themed doughnuts – for free – to any high school or college senior who stops by a participating location wearing their graduation cap and gown with a 2020 tassel; a “Class of 2020” T-shirt, sweatshirt or other clothing item; a 2020 senior letterman jacket; a 2020 class ring; a senior student ID; or other school gear that attests to their senior status. (The full list of acceptable items is here.)
The doughnut assortment can also be purchased from May 18 to 24 at Krispy Kreme drive-thrus or by ordering online via the Krispy Kreme website or app for curbside pickup or delivery – so families and friends who want to treat a graduate can do so as well.
The 12 assorted doughnuts in the limited-edition box spell out “2020” three times across three rows of four. Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled doughnuts, Strawberry Iced Kreme Filled doughnuts and Cake Batter Filled doughnuts are all decorated in the assortment with the number “2.” Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles doughnuts, Strawberry Iced with Sprinkles doughnuts and Yellow Iced Original Glazed doughnuts, with a white icing drizzle, represent the “zeroes.”
“We feel for all of the high school and college seniors. We wish they had that moment of walking across the stage and getting their diploma,” Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme’s chief marketing officer said in a news release. “We can’t replace that… but we thought we could help them safely have a little fun and enjoy a special ‘Graduate Dozen’ on us. Moms, dads, friends and family can buy this ‘Graduate Dozen’ all week long to honor their favorite graduates, but only seniors can get one for free.”
See, graduates? Doughnut think for a minute that your accomplishments are not worthy of celebration.
