A Nut Butter Sold at Walmart Has Been Recalled in 19 States
Here’s what you need to know.

Better check your pantry: A popular nut butter sold at Walmart has been recalled across 19 states due to possible Salmonella contamination.
Botticelli Foods is recalling a lot of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter, sold in 6.7-ounce jars, because it “has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella,” the Melville, NY-based importer says in a company announcement posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website.
Which product is being recalled?
The recalled Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter was sold in glass jars marked with “NET WT 6.7oz (190g),” the UPC 194346207961 and Lot Code LB028ACP04. The expiration date, January 28, 2027, is also printed on the jar.
No other lots of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter have been recalled.
Where was the recalled nut butter sold?
Manufactured in Italy, the recalled Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter was distributed to and sold exclusively by Walmart retail stores across 19 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington and Wyoming.
Why is the nut butter being recalled?
Walmart initiated the recall after it learned on July 17, 2026, that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had tested three jars of the nut butter while conducting a routine inspection at a Walmart store and found Salmonella.
In healthy adults, common symptoms of Salmonella include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain; in rare cases, the organism can get into the bloodstream and cause more severe illnesses, including arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis. In the very young, the elderly or those with weakened immune systems, however, Salmonella infections carry greater risk and may be deadly.
Has anyone gotten sick as a result of the potentially contaminated nut butter?
Fortunately, no.
“No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with this product that we are aware of to date,” Botticelli Foods says.
What should you do if you have the recalled nut butter?
If you have a jar of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter from the recalled lot, you are directed not to eat it. Instead, return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
