There are certain mainstays of the Chipotle menu that we can always count on. But there are other favorites that are only here for a while, and we miss them until they return. One of the most beloved? Carne Asada, and it’s making its return to Chipotle menus on Thursday, September 4 – but once again, only for a limited time.
This has been a popular, on-again-off-again protein choice since it was originally launched in 2019, and has made four limited-time reappearances since.
Carne Asada has truly been missed. In fact, it was Chipotle’s most-searched menu item on Google. It’s easy to see why this is such a popular choice, as the protein is known to be boldly flavored; a steak that is seasoned with a signature spice blend including cumin, coriander, garlic and oregano, grilled, and then finished with fresh-squeezed lime and hand-chopped cilantro.
“Our Carne Asada is an elevated, chef-driven recipe that attracts new guests, reignites our Chipotle Rewards members and excites our restaurant teams,” said Chris Brandt, President and Chief Brand Officer in a statement. “The protein’s rich flavor profile is the perfect pairing for any gameday whether you’re watching marquee matchups from home or tailgating at the stadium.”

While my personal go-to Carne Asada order has always been a burrito bowl with a drizzle of queso and all the fixings, this is really as fun a choose-your -own-adventure as you can get.
Just in time for the return of Carne Asada, Chipotle is also offering some sweet deals, including a “Wear Your College Football Jersey” BOGO deal on entrées for guests who order in the restaurant and are wearing a college football jersey on Monday, September 15 after 5 p.m. local time. Additionally, Chipotle is offering a $0 delivery fee offer on all Carne Asada orders placed through the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com and Chipotle.ca from Monday, September 8 through Tuesday, September 30.
