Bourbon Balls

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

1 cup (about 4 ounces) powdered sugar, plus more for rolling 

1/4 cup bourbon 

2 tablespoons light corn syrup 

2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (about 40 wafers) 

1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts 


  1. Sift the cocoa and 1 cup powdered sugar into a medium bowl. Combine the bourbon and corn syrup and add to the cocoa mixture. Stir in the crushed wafers and pecans, mixing until well blended.
  2. Shape the mixture into 3/4-inch balls; roll in powdered sugar. Cover and chill at least 20 minutes and up to 2 weeks.
