Chef Zane's Mulled Wine

50-ounce bottle inexpensive red wine (Gallo Burgundy is a good, hearty choice)

2 cups orange juice

2 oranges, halved

1 lemon, halved

1 lime, halved

1 small (1/2-inch long) piece fresh ginger

2 cinnamon sticks

2 cloves

1 star anise

1 cup sugar

2 bay leaves

(you may add 2 cups rum and vodka)


  1. Combine all ingredients in a stock pot. Bring to simmer for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
