Guy Fieri checks out some joints where things are still done the old-fashioned way. In Oklahoma City, a steak house that's been serving the same steaks, desserts and even salad dressing for more than 80 years; In Los Angeles, a 1940s diner brought back to life by a chef doing mac and cheese, fried catfish, and donuts her way; And in Boston, three brothers carry on 40-year-old family tradition -- making clam chowder like Dad -- and chipotle/pastrami sandwiches.
The Neelys are going oceanside on their "Seafood Shack" food adventure! First stop, crustacean town with their creamy Shrimp Sliders. Then, they've got mollusk mania with their bacon riddled Neely Clam Chowder. They're rounding the meal out with thick Corn Fritters loaded with whole corn kernels and smoky paprika. Finally, Gina Neely makes a cocktail to wash it all down, a tangy Grapefruit Gimlet. You'll feel the ocean air in your hair after this meal goes down at "Neely's Seafood Shack!"
Guy Fieri's looking for a clambake without leaving the ranch. Aarti Sequeira whips up some Hushpuppies with an Indian twist and then sweetens up the party with juniper-infused Blueberry Cobbler. Rocco DiSpirito gets creative with his Clam Chowder Jalapeno Poppers and brings it on home with a Southampton Clambake in a Can. Ming Tsai gets the party started with his Lemongrass Shandy before offering up some Honey Gingered Corn en Papillote. Jonathan Waxman prepares his Seafood al Cartoccio and a simple yet luxurious Grilled Zucchini and Eggplant Casserole with a Pistachio Pesto.
Guy Fieri asks his chef friends to make some road-trip favorites. Duskie Estes fries up crispy Cauliflower with a Tahini Dipper, Labneh and Smoky Eggplant and dives right into richness with her Pork Belly Gyro. Gerry Garvin whips up a delicious Crazy Burger topped with a fried egg and sweetens things up with a Warm Doughnut Bread Pudding covered in Crispy Bacon. Aaron May creates a dangerously Boozy Date Shake to sip on while preparing his Puffy Tacos. Christian Petroni makes his own Clam Chowder and brings some spice to life with Spaghetti Amatriciana.
The Kitchen hosts go head-to-head armed with regional dishes in a basketball-inspired "Munch Madness" tournament! Jeff Mauro represents the Midwest with his Real Chicago-Style Italian Beef Sandwich while Katie Lee steps up with a Southern classic -- her Fried Bologna Sandwich. Geoffrey Zakarian makes New England proud with his Clam Chowder and Sunny Anderson reps the Southwest with her Easy Beefy Texas Chili. Guest judge Buddy Valastro then decides who advances to the Cupcake Finals where two hosts battle it out with two regionally inspired cupcakes.
Hungry Detective Chris Cognac hits the streets of Beantown hot on the trail of the city’s best off-the-beaten path clam chowder. During his investigation a hot tip from a local fishmonger leads him to Daily Catch, an authentic family-run Italian seafood restaurant in Boston’s historic North End. Next, his search for Boston’s best sweets leads him to J.P. Licks, a local ice cream shop known for its creative concoctions, including ice cream made with Boston’s own Sam Adams beer. As his search for sweets continues, the Hungry Detective heads to Cambridge and follows the college crowd to L.A. Burdick, a coffee shop with a sweet reputation for its creative chocolate desserts, including a decadent brownie known as the Harvard Square. Hot on the trail of a great bargain, Cognac stays in Cambridge and meets up with a college food-blogger known as the Gentleman Gourmand. The Gentleman Gourmand takes him to Mary Chung, a true hidden gem serving up authentic Chinese food at a bargain price. Finally Cognac heads to Charlestown and the Warren Tavern and sniffs out a recipe for clam chowder almost as old as Boston itself.
