The chefs convince unsuspecting homeowners to let them crash their kitchens for ingredients, and Chef Cliff Crooks helps Jeff judge as the chefs make a triple-stacked sandwich, a quick and easy dessert and finally a 5-star meal. After a final battle, one winning chef splits a cash prize with their lucky local family.
The final two recruits get private cooking lessons from Alton Brown and Anne Burrell and learn to make a dish of their choosing. After picking teams, the chefs teach them how to make a Thanksgiving feast. The recruits must impress culinary expert judges Esther Choi, Clifford Crooks and Jonathan Waxman to win kitchen upgrades worth $5,000.

In San Francisco, they belly up to Capo's for the world's best fried deep-dish pizza. Then it's on to Seattle where Katsu Burger's Godzilla Attack is a katsu-style monster to devour. Finally, the Grill Dads visit Backstreet Grill in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a fried duck burrito flavored with New Mexican chilies and served like a sushi roll.
