The final three arrive at the Food Network Kitchens and are blown away when RACHAEL RAY walks in to explain that she's going to take her years of experience and direct THEM in their pilots this year! Then the pilots will be shown to a focus group of Food Network fans, while the selection committee gauges their reactions and the finalists' performances as the pilots play. Meanwhile, the finalists will watch all of this remotely, anxiously awaiting their fate and trying to read every sign. After deliberation, finalists are called back into the studio and the Next Food Network Star will be announced!
Guy Fieri turns the tables on the show's All-Star judges by making Richard Blais, G. Garvin, Beau MacMillan and Aarti Sequeira compete in the kitchen! First, they must eat their words and prepare an international lunch using only items that begin with the letter P and Z! Then, they must prepare a decadent dinner using only ingredients from the produce aisle. The two finalists must prepare a family meal that includes three strange ingredients from the Fieri Food Pyramid. The winning judge learns how challenging the Shopping Spree really is as they race to earn money for their charity of choice.
To start off the final week in boot camp, the remaining recruits compete in a relay race that tests their speed, knowledge and skill in the kitchen. Then chefs Anne Burrell and Carla Hall teach their final two recruits how to make a three-course, restaurant-quality meal. For the last challenge, the two finalists put all their newly learned culinary skills to the test in order to impress a panel of culinary experts. Judges Adrienne Cheatham, JJ Johnson and George Mendes sample the recruits' dishes in a blind taste test and choose the winner of the $25,000 prize.
The best of the worst recruits are back in boot camp for culinary redemption. Anne Burrell and her newest competitor, Michael Symon, welcome eight returning recruits eager to finally master the kitchen. The chefs start off with a culinary time trial to see who has improved and who has reverted to their old, disastrous ways. Then Anne and Michael have the recruits remake the dish that sent them home. After teams are chosen, the recruits are tasked with replicating their chef's dishes, which includes butchering whole ducks, and the recruit with the worst dish is sent home.
