This trip, Guy Fieri's going all in for some comfort and soul. In Charlotte, N.C., a down-home hangout is dishing out Low Country favorites like killer collard greens and standout shrimp and grits. In Las Vegas, a standout strip mall spot is serving their crepe specialties with everything from savory beef to sweet caramel apples. Then in Culver City, Calif., Marc Summers and actor Dann Florek join Guy at the mom-and-pop shop firing up tasty turkey chili and dynamite dogs on cornbread buns.
Join Rachael Ray as she makes five make-ahead meals in one day — and the best part is that they each cook up in 30 minutes or less! First up is a Sausage Ragu With Pappardelle, then for dish two, how about a nice bowl of homemade Mushroom Soup With Marsala, served over a round of fried toast and grated Parmigiano-Reggiano? Dish three is Zucchini Potato and Fennel Stew, dish four is Chicken Thighs in Mild Red Curry, and for dish five, it's Turkey and Chorizo Chili, topped with crushed corn chips.
It's Ree Drummond's birthday, and she's celebrating by making over some of her all-time favorite recipes and road-testing them for social media. She starts with Mini Turkey Meatloaves, a thoroughly modern take on a comfort food classic. Her Cauliflower "Mac" and Cheese is a tasty remix with less of the mac and all of the cheesy goodness, and her Baked Chili-Garlic Fries with Light Fry Sauce are another light variation. Every birthday deserves a cake, so Ree revamps her go-to recipe and makes a Flourless Chocolate Cake that's worth celebrating.
Chef and restaurateur Zakary Pelaccio once confessed to a friend: “I never want to cook the same thing twice.” This should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with his inventive, ever-changing cuisine. Drawing on a globe-spanning array of influences, Pelaccio’s food defies categorization. Pelaccio first turned heads in 2005 when he opened Fatty Crab, his Malaysian-inspired West Village hot spot. Why Malaysia? He’d gone there for a visit, stayed for a year and half, and “fell hard for lip-scalding chiles, unbelievably funky fermented condiments, and freshly made coconut milk”—ingredients that were given star turns in dishes like short rib rendang and his signature chili crab. After over a decade of thrilling critics and customers alike, Fatty Crab closed its doors in 2016.By 2011, Pelaccio's curiosity and ambitions were driving him on to the next big thing. He and his wife, chef and alchemist Jori Jayne Emde, swapped New York City apartment living for a barn in the woods upstate. Along with Jori, partner Patrick Milling Smith, and co-chef Kevin Pomplun, Pelaccio developed Fish & Game, a restaurant housed in a renovated 19th-century building in Hudson, New York. The uber-local ingredients—including produce and animals raised on the restaurateurs' own land—and smart blend of Americana with international technique (he makes kimchi out of rhubarb) have earned Pelaccio a collection of laurels: Fish & Game has been a James Beard Foundation Awards finalist every year since it opened, and Pelaccio won James Beard's Best Chef in the Northeast in 2016.Pelaccio's signature? Whether it's his roast turkey with a spicy twist or Swiss chard with (surprise!) clams, expect strong, surprising flavors that creatively complement good ingredients without overwhelming them. Guy Fieri knows diners, so when his chef friends come to the ranch with their version of diner classics, they bring their A-game! Rocco DiSpirito makes a quick Turkey Dinner with All the Trimmings and a healthy version of the classic 10-Layer Chocolate Cake. Antonia Lofaso starts with homemade Fresh Ricotta Cream on Charred Ciabatta with Chili Parsley and then serves her main dish of cheesy Rice Balls Stuffed with Bolognese Sauce, Peas and Mozzarella. Finally, Carl Ruiz whips up a boozy Honey Bourbon Vanilla Caramel Milkshake and stick-to-your-bones Matzoh Ball Soup and Disco Fries.
