For some people, the most exciting part of Easter is decorating eggs — or searching for them. Others may be partial to parades and bonnets. And then there are those who are all about the candy.

Ah, the candy.

This year candy makers have introduced a few new treats to pack into your basket, snuggled up to your hollow (or solid, if you’re hard core) chocolate bunny in a colorful nest of faux grass. These sweets making their debut in the run-up to Easter 2019 (Sunday, April 21) are definitely worth hunting for:

Peeps maker Just Born Quality Confections has taken its iconic colorful marshmallow chicks and bunnies to the next level this year with nine new Easter-basket-bound products. Peeps Pancakes & Syrup Flavored Marshmallow Chicks, Peeps Cotton Candy Flavored Marshmallow Chicks and Peeps Delights Orange Sherbet Flavored Marshmallow Chicks Dipped in Creme Flavored Fudge will be available at retailers nationwide. Meanwhile you’ll be able to find Peeps Root Beer Float Flavored Marshmallow Chicks exclusively at Kroger stores, Peeps Delights Vanilla Creme Flavored Marshmallow Chicks and Peeps Filled Delights Chocolate Caramel Swirl Flavored Marshmallow Chicks only at Target, and Peeps Blue Raspberry Flavored Marshmallow Chicks at Walmart alone. Also making their debut are Peeps Flavored Jelly Beans and Peeps Solid Milk Chocolate Bunnies. “We know many families include Peeps in their Easter traditions, and we want to provide our fans with fun new flavors, varieties and merchandise in addition to our iconic Peeps candy,” said Peeps Brand Manager Caitlin Servian said in a press release. Additionally worth noting: a Peeps-Flavored International Delight Coffee Creamer and Kellogg’s Peeps Marshmallow Flavored Cereal with Marshmallows are also on supermarket shelves, but only for a limited time only. So hop to it, Peeps fans!

Cadbury — the geniuses behind the classic creme egg (best Easter candy ever) — has introduced Easter Shimmer Mini Eggs. Milk chocolate “with a crisp shimmer sugar shell,” in pale shades of pink, purple, blue and yellow, they are retailing nationwide in 1.4 oz. bags ($0.99) and 7 to 9 oz. bags ($3.89). (Walmart.com is currently selling a 9 oz. bag for $2.98.)

Russell Stover’s Cinnamon Sugar Churro Egg is a cinnamon-sugar-churro-flavored marshmallow with cinnamon candy coating. Taste-testing YouTuber Tami Dunn tried it and said it “tastes just like a churro,” with a perfect “sugar-cinnamon ratio.” Russell Stover has also introduced a Lemon Pucker Egg — a sunny, yellow lemon-flavored marshmallow “with a sour kick in candy coating.” Dunn said the lemon is “very sweet … not tart” and “not furniture polish.” They’ve been spotted at Walgreens and CVS (for $1.25).

Reese’s is releasing Reese’s eggs stuffed with Reese’s Pieces candy. A bonanza of milk chocolate and peanut butter, they come as individual or king-size packages (which includes two eggs for $1.49) at Target.

Jolly Rancher is releasing a new Springtime Smoothies Mix Assortment, featuring what it says are the hard candies’ “best … spring flavors”: strawberry, watermelon, peach, mixed berry and orange. A 12 oz. bag is an option to consider if you’re packing an Easter basket for someone who’s not into chocolate.

M&M’s/Mars has introduced White Chocolate Marshmallow M&M’s as a specialty-edition flavor for Easter. In robin’s egg blue, white and a pale, peachy tan, they are “essentially the same as the basic white chocolate M&M with the tiniest hint of another flavor zipping by at light speed,” according to the Impulsive Buy, which maintains that that other flavor is not so much marshmallow as fondant. “While they taste perfectly pleasant … there’s a huge wasted opportunity here … Why didn’t they play around with texture? Swap out the crispy malted filling of the M&M’s Mini Eggs with a breakfast-cereal-style marshmallow center?” Oh, well. Maybe next time. In any event, you can buy an 8 oz. bag of them at Target for $3.19.
