Chrissy Teigen Hilariously Barters Banana Bread for Romaine Lettuce

Let’s hand it to Chrissy Teigen for turning lemons into lemonade – or rather banana bread into romaine lettuce. And for making new friends in unexpected ways.
The model/cookbook author/all-around goddess, apparently in desperate need of romaine lettuce, put a call out to her Twitter followers on Monday, offering a deal. “I’ll make a banana bread for anyone that has romaine lettuce. The trade will be made 6 feet apart and we will place the goods on the floor. no funny business,” she tweeted.
Among the responses was one from YouTuber Chris Klemens. “I have three studio city,” he wrote, holding up a sealed bag of fresh-looking romaine hearts.
Klemens was not the only offer. A.J. McLean from the Backstreet Boys also showed off his pair of lettuces, striking an enthusiastic pose, writing, “I’ve got you covered! Just tell me when and where,” but Teigen was apparently not adequately impressed. “That awkward moment when @chrissyteigen rejects your romaine...” McLean later tweeted.
Anyway, Teigen zeroed in on Klemens’ offering, but first did her due diligence.
“how do I know this isn’t an old pic of u an romaine, hold up something timely,” she wondered. In response, Klemens provided (amusing) video proof.
That was enough for Teigen. “Ok Chris. I trust you. Let me make this bread and I’ll be in your area tomorrow early afternoon!!” she wrote.
To be sure, there was some last-minute dickering, due to the banana-bread demands of Teigen’s husband, John Legend. “Crap @ChrisKlemens I only have enough for one banana bread and john is not happy I’m trading it. Would you accept half a banana bread? please ... my family. Have mercy on us,” Teigen wrote.
“Am I... fighting with John Legend over banana bread?? Lmfao yes that is fine,” Klemens responded.
Obviously grateful, Teigen sweetened the deal with some pie and a bottle of wine and even said she had ordered some vegan food for Klemens, having discovered he was a vegan – “@ChrisKlemens making out like a bandit in this,” she tweeted – and arranged to meet him the following day, sometime after 3:30 p.m.
She shared a video of herself in the car on the way to the meetup. “The deal is about to go down,” she said. And arrived at the church parking lot in which they were set to meet. “Figured this would be a safe place,” she tweeted.
There are not one, but two videos of the exchange, which were made from a distance with the help of a little red plastic toy truck. “Check it, John. Check it,” Teigen demanded, when the Klemens and his roomie, fellow YouTube personality Andrew Lowe, sent the truck full of romaine (in ice) the celeb couple's way.
At the end of it all, Teigen tweeted, “It was so hard not to hug you both @andrewlowe @ChrisKlemens.”
“It was so hard not to whip out the adoption papers,” Klemens replied.
