Historically speaking, new protein options at Chipotle aren’t known for coming out fast and furious, but lately they have been a more regular occurrence. Just in the past year, we’ve seen the arrival of Smoked Brisket, Plant-Based Chorizo and Pollo Asado. (That last one, released in March, was the chain’s first new chicken menu addition in 30 years.)
Now, the fast-casual chain has announced that, starting May 3 for a limited time at participating restaurants in select markets, it is testing another meaty new menu item: Garlic Guajillo Steak.
Characterized by the brand as having a “bold,” “exciting” and “dynamic” flavor, Garlic Guajillo Steak features “tender cuts of Responsibly Raised steak” seasoned with garlic and guajillo that are “grilled fresh on the plancha in small batches and hand cut into succulent bites” and then “finished with fresh lime and hand-chopped cilantro,” according to Chipotle.
“Garlic Guajillo Steak is full of flavor with a perfect little kick that complements our 53 real ingredients,” Chipotle Chief Marketing Officer Chris Brandt said in a press statement. “Menu innovation is an ongoing priority at Chipotle, and we are always looking for new flavors to give our fans new ways to Chipotle.”
If you’re in or near Denver, Indianapolis and Orange County, California, you can try Garlic Guajillo Steak at 102 participating restaurants.
