Where to Get Free Doughnuts on June 5, National Doughnut Day

We’re all looking forward to National Doughnut Day this Friday, June 5. While the holiday sounds like a modern-day marketing ploy, it actually dates back to 1938, invented to honor the “Doughnut Lassies” of World War I. These Salvation Army volunteers served doughnuts to soldiers in the trenches and are credited with popularizing doughnuts in the US. Remember that factoid next time you're chowing down on a frosted strawberry.
As in previous years, some popular chains are offering deals and freebies in honor of our favorite fried treat. Here’s what to keep your eye out for:
7-Eleven: On June 5, 7-Eleven is offering 50-cent classic glazed doughnuts for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations. If you can’t make it on June 5th, you can snag one for $1 until June 24.
Duck Donuts: Get a free classic donut on June 5 at participating locations, no purchase necessary.

Dunkin’: Head to Dunkin on National Doughnut Day to snag a free doughnut with the purchase of a beverage. Participating locations are also giving away limited-time Dunkin’ tote bags with the purchase of half a dozen doughnuts or more. Finally, the chain is bringing back its collaboration with Stoney Clover Lane, dropping new Dunkin’-inspired accessories like a Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Crossbody Bag and Dunkin’ Donuts Patch Set.
Krispy Kreme: Krispy Kreme is offering one of the best deals this year. Customers can get any free doughnut of their choice, no purchase necessary. The deal is available on June 5 in-shop or at the drive-thru. Plus, buy any dozen and get a dozen Glazed Doughnuts for $2 at participating locations.
Paris Baguette: PB Rewards members can get free sugar mochi or small twist doughnut with any purchase on June 5.
Sheetz: Until June 9, customers can get any bakery doughnut for free when they spend $5 or more on food and beverages. The offer is available on the Sheetz app.
Shipley Do-nuts: Shipley is turning Doughnut Day into Doughnut Month. Guests can get a free Classic Glazed Donut every Friday in June with any purchase. Use the promo code DonutMonth26 at shipleydonuts.olo.com if ordering online.
Stan’s Donuts: The Chicago-based spot is becoming the Willy Wonka of fried food. Head to a location on Friday to get a free chocolate-dipped doughnut with any purchase. If you bite into the doughnut and the inside is pink, you get free doughnuts for a year. If it’s green, you get free doughnuts for life. If you bite into it and it’s its regular color? Well, at least you got a free chocolate doughnut.
Tim Hortons: The Canadian-favorite coffee chain is giving away one classic or speciality doughnut with the purchase of a beverage. The deal is available now until June 7 for Tims Rewards Members.
Voodoo Doughnuts: Fan Club members receive a free doughnut of their choice on Friday. The chain is also giving away free XL Foldable Pink Box Totes to the first 100 guests on National Doughnut Days. Oh, and the store is dyeing its doughnuts pink, so that’s fun.
