Those yearning for Chipotle to bring back its Smoked Brisket, yearn no more. The popular, limited-time protein option has been on and off the chain’s menu since its introduction in September 2021 and has, the brand says, “a history of selling out earlier than anticipated.” Now, it’s making a return.

Last on menu boards in February 2025, Smoked Brisket will be available at Chipotle locations across the U.S. and Canada starting November 5 — in time for “football weekends, rivalry games and watch parties,” Chipotle says.

What is Chipotle’s Smoked Brisket?

Chipotle’s Smoked Brisket starts with beef the brand says is “Responsibly Raised,” meaning it meets specific standards for quality and animal welfare, including the requirement that cattle are fed a strictly vegetarian diet, with no added growth hormones or “routine” antibiotics. (Chipotle estimates that only about 5% of U.S. beef meets these standards.)

After the beef is seasoned with smoked serrano, chipotle chile peppers and other spices, it's smoked for hours over mesquite wood, then delivered to restaurants where it's seared “on the plancha” and further seasoned, tossed in a smoky chile pepper sauce and chopped into small batches.

The result, I’d say — having had the opportunity to taste it again ahead of its return — is smoky and sweet, toothsome and truly delish.

“Our Smoked Brisket is defined by the classic culinary techniques that go into every batch,” Nevielle Panthaky, Chipotle’s senior vice president of culinary, says in a press release. “A signature blend of spices and a low-and-slow smoking process give the brisket its bold, beefy, smoky character, while the plancha sear and savory-tangy sauce create a tender bite with a little kick that’s uniquely Chipotle.”

Panthaky recommends trying Smoked Brisket in a burrito bowl with white rice, pinto beans, fresh tomato salsa, light tomatillo-red chile salsa, cheese and Queso Blanco for a game-day entree. I tried and enjoyed the bowl’s rich, creamy, subtle heat, although I admit I preferred the brisket paired with my own go-to burrito bowl picks.

What else is Chipotle doing to promote Smoked Brisket this time?

The chain is offering free delivery on Smoked Brisket orders placed through the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com and Chipotle.ca from November 5 (the day the limited-time protein returns to locations across the U.S. and Canada) through November 18.

Bringing Smoked Brisket “back in the heart of football season gives fans one more reason to make Chipotle part of their game-day lineup,” says Stephanie Perdue, Chipotle’s senior vice president of brand marketing.
