Aldi’s Wine and Cheese Advent Calendars Are Back to Make Your Holiday Happier

And this year the chain is doubling down on the popular concept – with beer, sparkling wine, chocolate and dog treat calendars, too!

Last year, Aldi’s Wine Advent Calendars and Cheese Advent Calendars, offered to U.S. customers for the first time, were a major hit. They sold out quickly … and left many disappointed buyers counting down the days until Aldi brings them back this year.

Now the countdown is entering its final days: Aldi has announced that both the Wine and the Cheese Advent Calendars are set to return to its U.S. stores that sell alcohol starting Wednesday, November 6. (If you want them, you’ll probably want to mark your calendar now.) The store has also branched out with other advent calendars.

This year’s Festive Collection Wine Advent Calendar ($69.99) offers 24 different wines from around the world (no repeats!). Open one flap each day to find a 187-ml. bottle of red, white, bubbly, sweet or dry wine from Australia, South Africa and other locales. Because of limited availability (once supplies of the calendars run out, they will not be restocked), customers are limited to purchasing three Wine Advent Calendars apiece, so don’t plan to buy one for everyone on your holiday list.

Three is also the per-customer limit for Aldi’s Emporium Selection Advent Cheese Calendar – and one that will be easier on your wallet to max out, given its $14.99 price point. A new Cheese Advent Calendar feature this year: The 24 snack-sized European cheeses behind each flap are made to pair perfectly with the wines in the Wine Advent Calendar. Aldi’s boasts that pairing the two will make for “the best December ever!”

And for those who are more into beer than wine, Aldi is also expanding its advent calendar offerings for 2019 with a Beer Advent Calendar ($49.99). Behind its 24 flaps, you’ll find a varied mix of imported beers, each in an individual 11.2-fl.-oz. bottle, including six of Aldi’s core-range beers, two Aldi Finds and seven “exclusive” brews. Aldi’s Beer Advent Calendar is an even more limited commodity, with a cap of two Beer Advent Calendars per customer. (Don’t despair about the advent-calendar exclusivity, beer fans, you can also buy a Beer Advent Calendar, with 24 beers from craft breweries around Germany, at Costco – where it has been spotted priced at $59.99 -- this year!)

And when it comes to advent calendars, Aldi has really gone all in this year – with three kinds of chocolate advent calendars, a bunch of toy and book advent calendars, and even one featuring 24 days of dog snacks, all available starting Wednesday, November 6. (Merry Christmas, Fido!)

Even after Advent concludes, Aldi will let you continue to count the days – this time to the New Year – with a Sparkling Wine Countdown to the New Year boxed collection ($24.99), available starting Wednesday, December 4, featuring an assortment of seven sparkling wines from Italy, France and Spain.

Happy (hic-cup!) holidays, indeed.
