Admit it, there are just some brands for which you won’t accept any substitutes. And when it comes to the snack aisle at the grocery store or the soda selection at a restaurant, two of those very brands are Oreo and Coca-Cola. Now, for the first time ever, these two iconic products are collaborating on two new crossover creations.
Starting next month, you’ll start to see the Coke logo in the cookie section of your supermarket as the Oreo Coca-Cola Sandwich cookies hit shelves.
Taking a cue from Coke’s color palette, the sandwich cookie will feature a red, white and black theme, and red wafers embossed with the classic Coca-Cola logo. The chocolate cookie (or “basecake” as Oreo calls them) will be similar to your typical Oreo basecake, but with actual Coca-Cola syrup added to the mix. The second Coca-Cola-red cookie is a specially-colored Golden Oreo. As for that Oreo filling, expect a Coca-Cola-infused white creme with a carbonation-inspired twist: popping candies for that familiar fizzy feeling.
And in the soft drinks section, be on the lookout for Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar, a limited-edition soda from the beverage brand’s experimental Creations collection. The announcement of the mashup drink describes it as “the smooth fusion of a refreshing Coca-Cola taste with flavorful hints inspired by Oreo cookies.” Cookies and cream cola? Count us intrigued.
The Oreo Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookies and Coca-Cola Zero sugar sodas will both arrive in stores nationwide beginning on September 9, 2024. And if you’re still into ice-cold summer sips, a slushy, frozen Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar drink will be available at select 7-Eleven locations. But if you can’t wait until then, the products will be available for presale in August at Walmart.com (sign up for more info on that early drop at oreo.com/presale).
In addition to the edible/drinkable offerings, this “Besties” collab between the brands will also feature an interactive digital experience, Spotify integration for friends to explore each other’s musical taste, and a line of “Bestie Mode” merchandise available at Forever 21 stores and Forever21.com.
