They say good things come to those who wait. They also say a squeaky wheel gets the grease. Fans of McDonald’s Snack Wraps have been waiting for a long time, and the fast-food chain is finally rewarding their persistence.

The Snack Wrap, a wrap featuring crispy chicken strips, shredded lettuce and cheese in a flour tortilla, was discontinued nationwide in 2016. Customers have been asking — pleading, really — for McDonald’s to bring it back ever since.

“My last time having one was in 2016 and I took it for granted not knowing it’d be my last time,” a fan named Carmen wrote in an email to McDonald’s last fall. “I never got proper closure with the snack wraps.”

Others are fueled by hope.

“One of my main motivators that keeps me going throughout the day is my future plan of purchasing four snack wraps, a large fry and a large sweet tea the day of the snack wraps return,” a fan named Steven emailed McDonald’s earlier this year.

And some are downright impatient. In December, McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger announced the Snack Wrap would return sometime in 2025 but didn’t specify when. It left some customers more antsy than ever.

“Where is the snack wrap,” an anonymous fan said in an email in January. “You guys promised me 2025, it is 2025. I do not see the snack wrap.”

At long last, we have answers. Thanks to customers’ perseverance, McDonald’s is bringing the Snack Wrap back on July 10 — this time, for good.

“From countless social posts to full-fledged petitions, McDonald’s fans have spent years rallying for the Snack Wrap to return to menus,” the brand states in a press release. “Their unmatched passion inspired the ultimate comeback: Starting July 10, the Snack Wrap returns to participating restaurants nationwide — and this time, it’s here to stay.”

The announcement was so powerful that McDonald’s hardly needs to elaborate. The company’s Instagram bio now reads, “you won. 07.10.25.” And, Erlinger’s official statement was simply, “It’s back.”

The permanent Snack Wraps will be available in two flavors: Spicy and Ranch. Both feature McDonald’s new McCrispy Strips alongside shredded lettuce and cheese in a flour tortilla, as before. Customers can order them à la carte or as part of a combo meal: two wraps, medium fries and a drink.

Meanwhile, Popeyes is trying to get in on the hype. This week, it announced a brand-new crispy chicken wrap of its own to compete with McDonald’s version.

“For a limited time only, these generously sized Chicken Wraps, are everything you love about Popeyes, now wrapped and ready to roll at participating restaurants nationwide,” it says in a press release. “Each one is packed with a Popeyes hand-breaded and battered chicken tender, crisp lettuce, shredded cheese, crunchy pickles and topped with your choice of a Classic, Spicy or Honey Mustard spread, all tucked into a soft, warm tortilla inspired by our famous biscuits.”

The Popeyes wraps are available now, while supplies last. Perhaps they’ll be enough to tide McDonald’s lovers over until July.

But for now, wrap fans are rejoicing.

“WE HAVE WAITED FOR THIS,” an Instagram account called Bring Back the Snack Wrap comments on McDonald’s announcement post.
