McDonald’s has created a lot of limited-time fan favorites over the years, from the McRib to the Shamrock Shake, but among the most coveted may just be their legendary Szechuan Sauce.
Part of the excitement of this popular savory and sweet dipping sauce is that it’s always been something of a mystery when or if it would ever return. But the time has finally come. McDonald’s has brought back Szechuan Sauce, exclusively on McDonald’s App, for a limited time.
This sauce, made with soy, garlic, ginger and a bit of vinegar, is a favorite for dipping Chicken McNuggets, but it’s so tasty, the possibilities are truly endless. While the sauce was originally launched as part of a campaign promoting the movie Mulan in 1998, it proved so wildly popular it has come back a few times since for limited engagements.
Szechuan Sauce will make its long-awaited return on March 31 for just a few days, and while supplies last. To score some, simply select it as your free dipping sauce when ordering Chicken McNuggets. The order has to be made through the app, but anyone can purchase up to five packets at a time.
If stocking up on the sauce itself wasn’t enough incentive to grab five at a time, note that the condiment is coming back in style, dressed in gold-foil packets with five different designs. Those who are able to collect all five will be able to spell out “Szechuan” when put together.
What a spicy way to ring in spring!
