You probably didn’t get to grab the Starbucks Bearista cup, which sold out almost the moment it became available. However, you’ve got a second chance to get your hands on the adorable bear that caused a nationwide frenzy last month.

What is the Starbucks Bearista cup?

The 20-ounce bear-shaped cup was one of the coffee chain’s holiday merch items this year. It was originally priced at $29.95. However, Starbucks provided extremely low stock — sometimes just one or two cups per store — and the cups sold out by the end of the day (or the hour). Some people lucky enough to grab one listed theirs on eBay for hundreds of dollars.

How can you get a Bearista cup now?

Starbucks hasn’t exactly restocked the ursine cups, but there’s a new way customers can get them without going through resellers. Rewards members can participate in Starbucks for Life, the chain’s annual holiday game, now until January 4. Players have a chance to win coveted prizes including the Bearista cup and “the grand prize,” free Starbucks food and beverages for decades to come (hence the name).

The game itself, which Starbucks is calling a Merrython, is a 90-second virtual running game where players compete to collect red holiday cups. Based on the preview, it’s essentially the wintry coffee version of Subway Surfers.

What are the odds of winning a Bearista cup?

We’re going to be honest: It’s not looking good. Of “nearly 10 million prizes” offered in the United States this year, Starbucks is giving out about 17,000 Bearista cups. We’ll let you do the math.

“Every week brings a free Prize Play, offering players the opportunity to win prizes awarded at random—and with an average of more than 600 Glass Starbucks Bearista Cold Cups up for grabs every day, there’s a chance to snag this viral favorite!” the chain says in its press release. “Each player can win only one of each prize type during the entire promotion.”

However, if you decide to take your chances, you could very well walk away with Bonus Stars, cake pops or free drinks. A win is a win, right?

But if you’re crossing your fingers for a last-minute holiday gift for the coffee lover in your life, we’d suggest an in-stock alternative.
