Panera Is Giving Away Free Sourdough In Honor of Taylor Swift's Wedding

Taylor Swift’s recent nuptials to Travis Kelce mark the biggest wedding since Princess Diana wed Prince Charles in 1981. The star-studded wedding at Madison Square Garden (during a massive heat wave in New York, no less) is one of the most talked-about pop culture moments of the summer.
By now, we know "all too well" that every time Taylor Swift is in the news, brands will race for ways to insert themselves into the conversation. Somehow, Panera, of all places, found a natural way to honor T&T’s special day, giving away loaves of sourdough bread to Swifties.
What’s the connection between Taylor Swift and sourdough?
When she’s not in the recording studio or on one of her record-breaking tours, Taylor Swift loves to bake sourdough, even gifting loaves to her famous friends. Benny Blanco previously posted a photo of a loaf Swift gifted to him and Selena Gomez, which included a sticker on the package that said “It’s a loaf story” (cute).
“The sourdough has taken over my life in a huge way. I’m really talking about bread 60% of the time now,” she shared last year on Travis and Jason Kelce’s podcast "New Heights." According to Swift, she’s made several flavors of sourdough, including lemon blueberry, cinnamon raisin and funfetti for Jason Kelce’s daughters. The podcast caused a sourdough craze, with people rushing to recreate Swift’s recipes and Pillsbury even releasing a Swift-inspired funfetti sourdough mix.
How can you get free sourdough at Panera?
Panera is celebrating the wedding of the century with free bread. On Thursday, July 9, participating U.S. locations will each give away 13 sourdough loaves, a nod to Taylor Swift’s favorite number. The loaves will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cafes will also carry free bread-themed stickers with cheeky sayings on them, like “Best Thing Since Sourdough.”
