Are we in Taylor Swift’s Sourdough Era? Seems like yes, and Pillsbury Funfetti is embracing the moment.

During her appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast episode on August 13, Swift announced her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. She also shared that sourdough had “taken over [her] life in a huge way” and that she had been experimenting with “Funfetti sourdough” to delight her nieces-to-be.

“They love sprinkles,” she said of future brother-in-law Jason’s daughters. “We put sprinkles in everything when we hang out.”

Funfetti posted Swift’s comments on Instagram the very next day. “It’s a loaf story 🍞❤️,” the brand punned in the caption, before asking, “Should we make Funfetti Sourdough?”

Now — following several more coy social media posts teasing a potential forthcoming release — the brand has answered its own question in the affirmative. Pillsbury Funfetti Sourdough Bread Mix is coming our way.

What is Pillsbury Funfetti Sourdough Bread Mix?

It’s sourdough bread with rainbow sprinkles in it, basically. Each 16.6-ounce box of Pillsbury Funfetti Sourdough Bread Mix contains sourdough bread mix, a packet of sprinkles and yeast.

The mix produces a loaf that is “equal parts tangy sourdough and sweet celebration” and “unexpected, colorful and a lot of fun,” Funfetti says in a press release. It’s “a bread that looks as joyful as it tastes, perfect for any occasion that calls for sprinkles,” it adds.

Is Taylor Swift involved?

Not directly, it appears. Funfetti doesn’t specifically mention the singer-songwriter in its product announcement, but it does playfully nod to her in myriad ways. The brand says, for example, that the product drop “follows a surge of buzz earlier this year, when sourdough suddenly stole the spotlight — with plenty of glitter, sprinkles, and experimental baking.” So little doubt T Swift inspired it.

Dan Anglemyer, chief operating officer at Funfetti parent company Hometown Food Company, says the product launch aligns with the brand’s commitment to “making celebrations more colorful.”

“With this launch, we’re giving fans a new way to bake joy into life’s moments — whether it’s a weekend bake, an album-listening party, or just an everyday moment made brighter with sprinkles,” Anglemyer says in the release.

How can you get your hands on the mix?

On Wednesday, September 24 at 12 noon ET, Pillsbury will drop the colorful, Taylor-inspired boxed sourdough mix on funfetti.com. The boxes will cost $9.99 each and shipping will be free. The drop is available online only.

But be warned: Supplies are super limited. The brand is making only 1,500 boxes available in this drop.

Will there be another drop?

Alas, there’s no indication that there will be. “This is a one-time only, limited edition drop,” a brand spokesperson tells us. “Only 1,500 boxes are going into production.”
