Taco Bell Is Introducing a Bold New Sauce for Heat Seekers
And a new spicy Quesarito, too.

It’s only been a few weeks since Taco Bell brought the Quesarito back from the land of discontinued and deeply missed menu items — nationwide, for a limited time — to the delight of those who had been clamoring for it.
Already, though, the chain is turning up the heat with a spicy new version of the recently reintroduced classic. A new Volcano Quesarito lands at Taco Bell today, January 8. It integrates a new Volcano Sauce, a fresh twist on Taco Bell’s Lava Sauce.
What is Taco Bell’s new Volcano Sauce?
The new sauce combines cheese and spices to create a creamy heat Taco Bell calls a continuation of “the heat legacy of Lava Sauce that fans know and love.”
“Lava Sauce didn’t just earn cult status — it forged its name into Taco Bell history with a molten mix of cheesy richness and ‘whoa-that’s-hot’ heat,” the brand says in a press release. “Now, the legend is leveling up with the debut of Volcano Sauce …with an even-more-craveable kick made for the spice chasers who like their sauces bold.”
What is the Volcano Quesarito?
The original version of the Volcano Quesarito, featuring the aforementioned Lava Sauce, was first introduced, for a limited time, in September 2015 before disappearing from menus.
Now it returns in a new version that spotlights Volcano Sauce. Taco Bell calls the Volcano Quesarito “a fan-demanded legend with a kick” that will appeal to “heat-chasers.” It features seasoned beef, seasoned rice and reduced-fat sour
cream. These elements are then “burrito-wrapped” within a quesadilla that has been grilled and “packed with melted cheese, Nacho Cheese sauce and the all-new Volcano Sauce.” It’s a combo of a quesadilla and a burrito made for those who like things spicy.
When are the Volcano Quesarito and Volcano Sauce available at Taco Bell?
Starting today, January 8, both the Volcano Quesarito and the Volcano Sauce are available at participating Taco Bell locations nationwide — for a limited time and while supplies last. The Volcano Quesarito is priced at $4.99. Volcano Sauce can be added to anything on the menu or ordered on the side.
