What to Watch: The Kitchen’s Cheesiest Show Ever and Rainbow Desserts on Spring Baking Championship
While the weather warms up outside, your favorite chefs are warming up some of their favorite indulgences. First up: cheese! On Saturday morning, Ree Drummond is hosting a dinner for the ladies who have helped her open a mercantile store in her building. She’s serving up jalapeno cheese bread alongside a cheesy take on cauliflower soup. After that, the co-hosts of The Kitchen are celebrating cheese with a 10-cheese mac and cheese as well as a nacho volcano from Food Network Star Justin Warner.
On Sunday morning, Nancy Fuller is transforming the leftovers in her fridge with a kitchen-sink frittata and leftover meatball soup. Then, Bobby Flay is cooking a Southwestern brunch that includes blue corn pancakes and a new take on the mimosa. And on Sunday night, it’s the final battle for a spot in Guy’s Grocery Games’ Redemption Tournament, followed by a rainbow dessert challenge on Spring Baking Championship and a new episode of Cutthroat Kitchen.
Ree is opening a mercantile store at her building in town, so she's throwing an on-site dinner for her girlfriends who've helped her stock it. She kicks things off with a gorgeous Quinoa Salad with Buttery Roast Vegetables, then serves a comforting pot of Cheesy Cauliflower Soup with chunks of gooey Jalapeno Cheese Bread. For dessert, there are decadent Salted Caramel Cheesecake Squares.
It's the cheesiest show ever, and Sunny Anderson kicks it off with her "Dimepiece" 10-cheese mac and cheese. Jeff Mauro's Cheese Board Grilled Cheese and Katie Lee's Pizza Parlor Grilled Cheese take the sandwich to a whole new level, and Food Network's Justin Warner builds a nacho volcano. To top it all off, there's Geoffrey Zakarian's Mouse Trap cocktail, plus a cheese-pull challenge!
Nancy is home alone and making the most of what's in her fridge. She's whipping up a quick, easy and delicious meal made from leftovers, including a Kitchen Sink Frittata, Leftover Meatloaf Soup, the Ultimate Brownie Bread Pudding with Coconut Chunks, Overnight Cantaloupe Oats and, to drink, a Sweet Vodka Sipper!
Bobby channels his love of Southwestern cuisine for this brunch that packs a flavorful punch! His colorful menu features Blue Corn Pancakes with Passion Fruit Butter, Chorizo-Potato Cakes with Black Bean and Salsa Verde, and Guava-Papaya Mimosas. Feast your eyes on a brunch from the Four Corners!
Chefs must create a fried feast using grocery bags that keep getting smaller. Next, worlds collide as the chefs dish out their best beef dinner combining the flavors of Italy and Korea. Finally, chefs present a dish from the heart that incorporates a twisted two-for-one special. The winner receives a big shopping spree and the last spot in the Redemption Tournament finale!
Spring showers bring May flowers ... and rainbows! In the Pre Heat, the six remaining bakers must make yummy dippers and create a sweet fondue to fill the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Then, for the Main Heat, bakers must produce glorious rainbow desserts to stay in the game.
Two chefs have to play beer pong for their Greek salad ingredients, then one chef has to cook a surf-and-turf dish using only a branding iron. Finally, one chef has to make poppy seed muffins in an upside-down muffin tin.
