McDonald’s Is Adding 2 New Characters to This Year’s Boo Buckets
There are five designs this season, and you’ll want to collect them all.

Amidst a flurry of fast-food-branded Halloween buckets, including one from its rival Burger King and another from coffee-and-doughnut chain Tim Hortons, McDonald’s is bringing back its beloved treat-worthy pail. Yes, the Happy Meal Boo Bucket, first launched in 1986, is returning once again in 2025.
“Halloween buckets are popping up everywhere like ghosts in the night — and hey, imitation is the most BOO-tiful form of flattery,” McDonalds says in a press release. “But let’s be real: There’s only one OG Halloween bucket, and it comes with a Happy Meal.”
When are McDonald’s Boo Buckets coming back?
Starting Tuesday, October 21 — just 10 days prior to Halloween — Boo Buckets will be available at McDonald’s locations nationwide. As always, the candy-ready plastic pails come with a Happy Meal. You’ll get one of five bucket designs with your meal.
What’s new about McDonald’s Boo Buckets in 2025?
There are new and returning faces featured on this year’s buckets. While the white ghost, orange pumpkin and green goblin may look familiar, the black cat and red zombie designs are totally new. All five pails have golden arched handles.
“Each bucket has its own creepy, kooky and cute expressions, so you can collect them all,” McDonald’s says. “Fans can even dress up their pails with Halloween themed stickers.”
How long will McDonald’s Boo Buckets be available?
These reusable seasonal buckets will be available only for a limited time and while supplies last. (And yes, people do collect these.) So if you want them, grab them.
