By now, we’re used to the rampant millennial nostalgia for the ‘90s. However, this year, we’ve seen an influx of people getting sentimental about an era even more recent in memory.
In January, the “2016” social media trend went viral, with people posting sentimental photo carousels of themselves from that year. Many regard the year a a simpler time in American culture: flashier, yes, but also more fun. Swiping through the photos is like entering a time machine: the filters are saturated, the contour heavy, the food colorful.
Even celebrities hopped on the trend. “You just had to be there,” Kylie Jenner captioned her 2016 photo carousel, the cover image showing a photo of her in her signature pink wig from her “King Kylie” era. Now though, Kylie is saying maybe you can turn back the clock. The influencer is partnering with Dunkin’ to release a “King Kylie” collection of summer drinks.
What Is King Kylie?
The “King Kylie era” is a callback to Kylie Jenner’s social media persona from the mid-2010s, imbued with confidence, playfulness, grunge and colorful hair. The beauty mogul has been teasing the return of King Kylie for over a year.
What’s on the King Kylie x Dunkin’ menu?
The limited-edition Dunkin’ menu is an ode to King Kylie’s pink aesthetic. The lineup includes:
- Candy Pink Lemonade Refresher: An iced lemonade flavored with pink pineapple and topped with dragonfruit pieces.
- Vanilla Pink Cloud Latte: An iced whole milk latte flavored with French vanilla and topped with strawberry cold foam.
- Pink Lemon Drop Suncloud Lemonade: An iced lemonade made with oat milk and topped with strawberry cold foam.
How can you try the King Kylie x Dunkin’ menu?
The drinks are available for a limited time starting today, July 8, available to order in-store or on the Dunkin' app.
The drinks are part of Dunkin’s larger summer menu, which includes a pink Barbie-inspired lineup, Fourth of July items and a larger collection of Suncloud Lemonades. Standout offerings include the Peanut Butter Dunkalatte, Cherrylicious Daydream Refresher and Ice Cream Cake Flavored Donut.
What other brands are channeling 2016?
