Bryan Voltaggio Bio
Bryan Voltaggio is a multi James Beard-nominated chef and partner at Voltaggio Brothers Steakhouse, Wye Oak Tavern and Showroom, a restaurant outfitted in a former car dealership. His former restaurant work includes Thatcher & Rye, Voltaggio STRFSH and Estuary.
Bryan started out as a busboy at a Holiday Inn in his hometown of Frederick, Maryland, eventually turning it into a cooking job by taking a vocational culinary program at Frederick Community College through his high school program. Later, he attended culinary school at The Culinary Institute of America. After graduation, he and his wife moved to New York City where he took a job at Charlie Palmer's Aureole. Under Chef Palmer and chef de cuisine Gerry Hayden's mentorship, Bryan quickly became a force in the kitchen.
Bryan rose to celebrity chef fame when he and his brother, Michael Voltaggio, competed and were finalists on Top Chef: Las Vegas in 2009. A fierce competitor, he went on to become a finalist in Top Chef Masters (Season 5) and Top Chef All-Stars L.A (Season 17).
He also has made several Food Network appearances, competing in Tournament of Champions, Bobby's Triple Threat and 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing, where he finished in second place. Bryan and Michael also hosted and mentored a team of chefs in Battle of the Brothers on discovery+. They've also appeared on shows like Beat Bobby Flay and Chopped: Junior.
Bryan is the author of Home: Recipes to Cook With Family and Friends and co-authored VOLT ink: Recipes, Stories, Brothers with his brother, Michael. He lives in his hometown of Frederick, Maryland, with his wife and high-school sweetheart, Jennifer, and their three children Thatcher, Piper and Ever Maeve.
