Here's How To Win a Free Subway Footlong This Week
The chain is offering thousands of $15 gift cards valid towards the sandwich in exchange for stories about regrettable lunches.
Lunchtime deal alert: Subway is giving away thousands of free Footlong sandwiches this week. Basically, all you have to do to get them is share a story about a subpar lunch you’ve been served somewhere else.
They're calling them “lunchtime horror stories” in the spirit of Halloween. Yes, a little strange, but also — free Footlongs!
“We make sandwiches, not time machines. But we can give people something to look forward to at their next lunch,” Jeff Klein, Subway’s chief marketing officer, says in a statement.
The giveaway plays off the brand's recently launched “Feed Your SUBconscious” campaign, in which Will Arnett plays an inner voice steering you to better food choices. It is, Klein says, “an invitation to listen to that inner voice that knows what you really want … with thousands of freshly prepared Footlongs on us.”
How can you get a free Footlong sandwich at Subway?
Subway is inviting everyone who has had a “lunch horror” story to share it via LunchtimeHorrors.com through Friday, Oct. 16, in exchange for a shot at snagging one of thousands of $15 Subway eGift cards. The cards can be used toward the purchase of a Footlong sandwich boasting “freshly sliced meats, loads of veggies and bread baked daily,” Subway says.
What exactly is a lunch horror story?
Such a good question. In a press release about the giveaway, Subway lists “the $20 smoothie that left you hungry,” “the $25 salad that wasn’t worth it” and “the greasy burger that weighed you down” as examples.
The brand even commissioned a survey to provide data to back up its take that lunch regrets are super common. According to its findings, 66% of U.S. adults say they at least sometimes regret their lunch choice. Among the reasons, Subway’s survey found, 34% say what they ate wasn’t filling, 28% say it wasn’t worth what the price and 35% say they ate a meal that was unhealthy. Additionally, the survey indicated, 70% of those surveyed said they skip lunch at least once a week.
How do you enter for a $15 Subway eGift card?
U.S. residents 18 and over can head here to share their stories for a shot at being selected as one of thousands of winners. Entries will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 16. Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch?
