A shrimp cocktail ring is the only ring I want to say “yes" to in life. It's even better and more satisfying when you make this at home instead of buying the teeny ones at the grocery store—there’s never enough cocktail sauce in the center of those things anyway, if you ask me.

This is a classic dish with a few updates. When I was growing up, my mom would use pre-sweetened gelatin, and there were no fresh strawberries. I decided to put a bit more effort into it so I wouldn’t feel guilty, but you can use store-bought strawberry gelatin packets. Simply make it according to the box.

I love a green goddess anything; salad, mussels, lobster tails, twice-baked potatoes. You name it and I’ve shared it on The Kitchen. This is my newest addition, and it’s my new favorite. If you aren’t into salmon, this is great with ground dark meat turkey or chicken!

If you’re planning a tailgate, don’t forget breakfast! It’s a day-long event, and starting it off right with something to help you soak up the day is the best plan. Maybe take an aspirin too, lol. These tailgate-worthy bites are the perfect accompaniment to beer, or orange juice if you must. Have a little hot sauce around if you feel like shaking some on.

A twice-baked potato takes a bit of work, but it is worth it and if you pack it right it’s the whole meal. That’s what I’ve done here; don’t forget that a potato is a vegetable and a tomato is a fruit! It's a well balanced meal with the best food group — cheese! This is made even faster if you find the potatoes you microwave instead of bake until tender. Go ahead, no one will know it’s a once-baked potato, but us.

Is it even a party without a dip? This is the dip of all dips and puts the layered bean dip to shame, although that dip does have its place in the dip hall of fame. Newcomers are always welcome to the party, and a layered dip with all the elements of a tasty burger is a great addition. You can chill this overnight; the iceberg holds up! Transport it to any party and arrive looking like a dip maven!

The best thing about macaroni and cheese is that there are so many ways to make it, so it can be open to interpretation. Some may try to box you in, but resist! There’s a world of cheeses and toppings that can turn a side dish into more of a meal. This is a great way to serve macaroni and cheese family style. Give all the cheese pull love to the Gruyère, but the flavor star here is the smoky Gouda enhanced by the onion and garlic.

There’s a clique of pickle lovers out there, and I would like to humbly submit this recipe to them for consideration. It’s a fun way to get a little bit more texture than the crunch from the pickle skin, and another way to add flavor. You can also add some chile-lime seasoning or steak seasoning to the jar of pickles and let them cold soak for a few days before making this to intensify the flavors.

Gazpacho is a cooling soup that’s great for the summer, especially when the produce is fresh and at its best. This isn’t a time to use vegetables or fruits on their last leg. Pick the good stuff and blitz it up. This also freezes well in a sealable freezer bag. Just fill it and freeze it flat for easy defrosting in the refrigerator. If you’re having this without a sandwich, a warmed garlic naan alongside or even croutons are perfect in this soup.

Soup is one of the comforting things about fall. Just the fact that it demands a bowl for serving makes me comfy. This is an easy recipe you can adapt for different types of squash or use a blend. I just love focusing on the flavor of one and never look at frozen squash cubes or freshly cubed squash in the produce section with a side-eye — they work perfectly here. Just lower the roasting time and cut the fruit and onion smaller to match the size of your freezer find.

My favorite cheese on a board is the soft cheese, and usually the Brie. The flavor is only intensified when made into brittle with this new hack seen online. I’ve shared a fun dip to make the cheese board portable. Grab some brittle bites and some dip and a plate and curl up for a movie with a fun new snack!

I fell in love with bread pudding during my short time going to Loyola University in New Orleans. I would like to go on record and say Mother’s Restaurant makes it the best. Since then, I’ve made various versions of this custard and bread dessert, even one that helped me win Chopped! This is a crowd pleaser and can be made high above a campfire flame; just cover it with nonstick aluminum foil to create the oven effect.
