Some people are all about wine and cheese. Others skew toward wine and … Cheez-Its? Um, (crunch) yeah. And for the last two years, those in the latter category have been able to enjoy their preferred pairing in one convenient box form.

In 2019, Kellogg’s introduced a limited-edition box featuring Original Cheez-Its and House Wine’s Original Red Blend. In 2020, it followed up with the summer-friendly pairing of Cheez-It White Cheddar and House Wine Rosé. Both were offered in July for National Wine and Cheese Day — and both sold out super-fast.

But though Summer 2021 has come and gone without a wine-and-Cheez-Its box, wine-sipping snack lovers needn’t lament. Kellogg’s has just announced it will debut a Cheez-It & Wine bundle this week, for the third year running — and the new combo, which will be released on Friday, September 24, at 12 pm ET, as part of the celebration of the Cheez-It brand’s 100th birthday, takes a new approach.

The Cheez-It x Usual Wines 'So Extra' Toasty Experience, as the new box has been dubbed, includes a collectible Cheez-Itennial Cracker Coupe glass, an innovative piece of “snacking stemware” that the company describes as “a bubbly coupe and cracker bowl combination for simultaneous sipping, toasting and crunching.

It also includes a four-box flight of limited-edition Cheez-It Extra Toasty flavors, three of which are entirely new variations on the Extra Toasty theme: Cheez-It Extra Toasty Extra Cheesy, Cheez-It Extra Toasty Extra Spicy and Cheez-It Extra Toasty Cheddar Jack.

But while this year’s Cheez-Its boxed set gives us something new and fun (the collectible coupe), it does not, alas, give us the wine right there in the box. Instead, the Cheez-It x Usual Wines 'So Extra' Toasty Experience provides purchasers with a 20 percent off discount on Brut or Mixed Packs at UsualWines.com, so they’ll have to take an extra step to toast Cheez-It’s centennial with a bit of bubbly.

Matt Dukes, CEO at Usual Wines, predicted that wine and Cheez-Its fans will “absolutely love” this year’s pairing. “The light and satisfying crispness of our Usual Brut is the perfect complement to Cheez-It Extra Toasty’s 100% real cheese flavor and toasty finish,” he said.

If past years are any indication, the limited-edition Cheez-It x Usual Wines 'So Extra' Toasty Experience — which will be available at CheezItHQ.com, beginning Friday, September 24 at 12 pm ET, while supplies last — is bound to sell out fast. So if you want that collectible champagne-and-cracker coupe, don’t dawdle.

“Following two years of Cheez-It & Wine success, both selling out in minutes, we knew we had to bring the offering back this year with an extra twist to celebrate the brand’s 100th birthday,” Scott Crowley, brand senior director for Cheez-It, said in a news release. “What better way to enjoy the dynamic duo of Cheez-It and wine than with a champagne coupe and cracker bowl, all in one?”
