Guy Fieri Shares a Hilarious Childhood Memory With Fans

It turns out, Guy Fieri has always loved food. The Tournament of Champions host recently shared a hilarious childhood memory with fans.
Before he became a Food Network icon, Guy was just a kid growing up in Ferndale, California, biking up and down the town’s Main Street. Ferndale is small — we’re talking no stoplights and one cop — but because it was featured in the popular movie Outbreak (1995) starring Dustin Hoffman, the shops on Main Street were often filled with out-of-town visitors.
Guy, being the outgoing kid he was, liked to hang around the meat market, the candy shop and the bakery chatting with tourists. “They’d say, 'Little kid, you want a doughnut?’” says Guy, who remembers enjoying free ice cream, jerky and pizza via the tourists during his rides through town. “I’d come home for dinner and I’d say … ‘I’m not hungry.’”
His parents started to catch on. “The store owners … would call my parents and say, ‘Guy’s been in here like five times today with tourists.'”
To get the situation under control, Guy's parents took the only logical next step they could think of. The next time he arrived in town, he was wearing a sign that read: “Do Not Feed Me.”

The sign (which could easily be removed) soon became a silkscreen T-shirt. Once Guy realized the shirt could be turned inside out, his parents presented him with a double-sided silkscreen shirt.
Of course, fans cannot get enough of the irony behind the story:
“From ‘Do not feed me’ to creating & hosting food shows. I love this,” wrote a fan on Instagram.
“Oh my gosh, this story is incredible. That totally shaped your life! You now make people feed you!” commented another.
While it’s unclear how long Guy was able to continue with his antics after receiving the double-sided shirt, it’s safe to say the experience definitely led him to his famed career as a Food Network star.
